Ingbo Källor – a fabulous place where the water never runs out
In the middle of the forest just outside Tärnsjö in Heby municipality lies one of nature’s own little wonders – Ingbo Springs. Here at the foot of forested hills, clear and cold water bubbles out of the ground all year round, regardless of the weather or season.
Nature’s own miracle
Ingbo Källor is an area with several large spring flows where groundwater ripples through sandy-bottomed spring holes. The water is so clean that you can clearly see the sand moving on the bottom when the water is pushed up from the earth’s interior. The color changes from deep blue-green to light turquoise depending on the light and weather.
The area is easy to visit and has a short but very beautiful walking trail that takes you around the largest springs. Along the way, there are benches and information signs that tell you more about the geology and history of the place.
One tip is not to turn back where the wide path ends. Many people stop there, but if you continue further into the forest along the narrower path, a magical environment awaits. Here you are surrounded by moss-covered rocks, dense greenery and a peaceful atmosphere that makes the experience even more magical.
History and legends
The area around Ingbo has been known since the 17th century and many legends tell of the healing powers of the springs. In the past, it was believed that the water could cure diseases and even today the place attracts both nature lovers and those seeking peace in a fairy-tale environment.
Near the springs are also the remains of an old mill, Ingbo mill, which once used the power of the spring water to grind grain. There is also an old dance floor here that reminds us of a time when the area was filled with music and dancing during bright summer evenings.
A perfect excursion destination
Ingbo Källor are a perfect place for a quiet excursion. Bring a coffee and sit by the water for a while and listen to the quiet babbling and birdsong. If you come early in the morning or late in the evening you can have the whole area almost to yourself.
The place is easy to reach by car and there is a small parking lot adjacent to the area. The path around the springs is relatively short and easy to walk, which makes the visit suitable for both families with children and those who want a shorter walk in beautiful nature.
If you continue the road towards Östa a few hundred meters after the exit to Ingbo springs and turn left, there is a slightly hidden wilderness campsite in the forest where you can park your camper, caravan or pitch a tent. There is a dry toilet and barbecue area but otherwise no service apart from the wonderfully beautiful nature.
