The Västerhavspromenaden in Lysekil – an experience not to be missed!

Lysekil, located in the heart of Bohuslän, offers a unique combination of seaside experiences and accessible nature. One of the most prominent attractions is the Västerhavspromenaden, a 1.1-kilometer-long pier promenade that winds along the granite cliffs between Ålevik and Stora Långevik. This promenade is part of the Coastal Path and has become a favorite among both locals and visitors.

A walk in harmony with nature

The Västerhavspromenaden is designed to blend into the surrounding environment. Built without blasting or major intervention in nature, it follows the rock formations and offers spectacular views of the Västerhavs with its islets and skerries. Along the way, there are benches and resting places where you can enjoy the sea breeze and the peaceful surroundings.

Accessibility for all

The promenade is accessible, which means that it is suitable for people with strollers, walkers or mobility aids. There are also opportunities for swimming along the way, with ladders into the water and a diving tower with 3 and 6 meter ledges for the adventurous.

A result of voluntary commitment

What makes the Västerhavspromenaden particularly impressive is the voluntary work behind its creation. The Friends of Lysekils association has spent over 23,000 voluntary work hours over three years to realize the project.

A place for relaxation and activity

In addition to being a beautiful walk, the Västerhavspromenaden offers opportunities for barbecues at the two barbecue areas along the way. It is a place where you can combine physical activity with relaxation and enjoy the magnificent nature.

Tips for visitors:

• Parking: Available at both Ålevik and Stora Långevik.

• Swimming opportunities: Bring swimwear for a refreshing swim.

• Coffee: Pack a picnic and enjoy the view from one of the many benches.

• Camera: Don't forget to bring your camera to capture the amazing views.

The Västerhavspromenaden in Lysekil is a place where nature, accessibility and community come together. Whether you're looking for a peaceful walk, a refreshing swim or just want to enjoy the beauty of the sea, this is a destination not to be missed.
